Stitch Selection & Applications

Guide to common stitches and their uses:

  1. Straight Stitch (Pattern 1): General sewing, seams, topstitching. Adjust length for fabric weight.
  2. Zigzag Stitch (Pattern 2-4): Finishing raw edges, sewing stretch fabrics, appliqué. Adjust width as needed.
  3. Blind Hem Stitch (Pattern 5): For nearly invisible hems on garments.
  4. Stretch Stitches (Pattern 6-7): For knits and elastic fabrics to prevent popped seams.
  5. Decorative Stitches (Pattern 8-14): For embellishment on crafts, home decor, and garments.
  6. 4-Step Buttonhole: Use the buttonhole foot. Follow the four steps marked on the machine (1. Left side, 2. Bottom bar, 3. Right side, 4. Top bar).

Tip: Always test your stitch settings on a scrap of your project fabric first.

Threading & Bobbin Winding

Correct threading is essential for proper operation.

Winding the Bobbin:

  1. Place spool on spool pin. Pass thread through bobbin winding tension guide.
  2. Wind thread clockwise around bobbin several times by hand.
  3. Push bobbin winder shaft to the right. Gently press foot pedal to wind.
  4. When full, push shaft back to the left and cut thread.

Upper Threading: Follow the numbered path on the machine: Spool Pin > Thread Guide > Tension Discs > Take-up Lever > Thread Guide > Needle (front to back).

Inserting Bobbin: Ensure bobbin thread unwinds in the correct direction (usually counter-clockwise in the case). Pull thread under the tension spring.

WARNING! Ensure the presser foot is raised when threading the upper thread to open the tension discs.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Unplug the Machine: Always disconnect from power before any maintenance.
  2. Clean Lint Buildup: Use the small brush provided to remove lint from the bobbin area, feed dogs, and around the needle plate.
  3. Oil the Machine: Apply only high-quality sewing machine oil to points indicated in the manual (e.g., hook race) as per schedule. Wipe away excess oil.
  4. Needle Care: Replace the needle regularly (after 8-10 hours of sewing) or if bent/dull. Insert fully and tighten securely.
  5. Storage: Cover the machine when not in use to prevent dust accumulation.

CAUTION! Never use compressed air to clean the machine as it can force lint deeper into the mechanism.
