Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a stable, flat surface.

  1. Remove machine from packaging and place on table.
  2. Attach foot pedal: Plug into machine's foot pedal jack.
  3. Connect power: Plug power cord into machine, then into 120V AC outlet.
  4. Install needle: Loosen needle clamp screw, insert needle with flat side facing back, tighten screw.
  5. Attach presser foot: Raise presser foot lever, snap on desired foot.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from needle area during operation. Ensure machine is unplugged during needle changes and maintenance.

First-Time Operation

Power on machine; follow steps to thread and begin sewing.

  1. Wind bobbin: Place thread on spool pin, guide through bobbin winder tension, place bobbin on winder shaft, push to right, press foot pedal.
  2. Insert bobbin: Open bobbin cover, insert bobbin with thread unwinding counterclockwise, pull thread under tension spring.
  3. Thread upper thread: Raise presser foot, follow numbered threading path on machine, thread through needle from front to back.
  4. Select stitch: Turn stitch selection dial to desired pattern.
  5. Begin sewing: Place fabric under presser foot, lower presser foot lever, gently press foot pedal to start.

CAUTION! Always lower presser foot before sewing. Do not pull fabric; let feed dogs move it.

Stitch Selection and Settings

Threading and Bobbin Winding

Proper threading is essential for smooth operation.

  1. Upper Threading: Follow numbered path: spool pin > thread guide > tension discs > take-up lever > thread guide > needle.
  2. Bobbin Winding: Place spool on pin, thread through guide, wrap around bobbin winder tension, place bobbin on shaft, push shaft right, press foot pedal.
  3. Bobbin Insertion: Open cover, insert bobbin so thread unwinds counterclockwise, pull thread under tension spring, close cover.
  4. Drawing Up Bobbin Thread: Hold upper thread, turn handwheel toward you until needle goes down and up, pull upper thread to bring bobbin thread up through needle plate.

WARNING! Ensure presser foot is raised when threading upper thread to engage tension discs.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Unplug machine before any maintenance.
  2. Cleaning: Remove needle plate screws, lift plate, use brush to remove lint from feed dogs and bobbin area.
  3. Oiling: Apply one drop of sewing machine oil to hook race and moving parts as indicated in diagram (if required; some newer models are self-lubricating).
  4. Needle Replacement: Replace needle regularly, especially after dulling or hitting pins.
  5. Storage: Cover machine when not in use to prevent dust accumulation.

CAUTION! Use only sewing machine oil. Do not use household oils. Never spray cleaners directly onto machine.
