Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a stable, flat surface.

  1. Remove machine and accessories from packaging.
  2. Attach the foot pedal cord to the machine's port.
  3. Plug the power cord into the machine and then into a standard wall outlet.
  4. Raise the presser foot lever and install the presser foot.
  5. Wind and insert the bobbin following the diagram in the manual.
  6. Thread the upper thread using the automatic needle threader.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from the needle area during setup and operation. Ensure the machine is unplugged during initial assembly.

First-Time Operation

Plug in the machine, turn on the power switch (if equipped), and lower the presser foot.

  1. Select a straight stitch using the stitch selection dial.
  2. Place a scrap fabric under the presser foot, lower the lever, and gently press the foot pedal to start sewing.
  3. Practice controlling speed with the foot pedal.
  4. Use the reverse lever to sew a few stitches backward at the start and end to lock stitches.
  5. Raise the presser foot and pull the fabric and threads toward the back to remove.

CAUTION! Always turn the handwheel toward you (counter-clockwise) to avoid timing issues. Never pull fabric forcefully; let the feed dogs move it.
