Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, flat surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from machine and accessories.
  2. Attach the foot pedal cord to the connector on the right side of the machine.
  3. Plug the power cord into the machine and then into a standard 120V AC outlet.
  4. Install the needle (flat side toward the back) and tighten the screw.
  5. Wind and insert the bobbin following the diagram in the manual.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from the needle area during setup and operation. Ensure the machine is unplugged when threading or changing accessories.

First-Time Operation

Plug in power, turn on the light switch (if separate), and place foot on pedal.

  1. Thread the machine: Follow the numbered threading path printed on the machine.
  2. Pull up the bobbin thread: Hold the top thread, turn handwheel toward you to bring up bobbin thread.
  3. Select a stitch: Turn the stitch selection dial to the desired pattern (e.g., straight stitch).
  4. Test sew: Place scrap fabric under presser foot, lower foot, and gently press pedal to sew.
  5. Adjust tension and length/width as needed for your fabric.

CAUTION! Always start with the needle in the highest position. Never pull fabric while sewing—let the feed dogs move it.

Basic Sewing Techniques

Straight stitch: Use for seams, topstitching. Zigzag: Use for finishing edges, stretch fabrics, appliqué.

  1. Prepare fabric: Iron if necessary, pin or baste pieces together.
  2. Select appropriate stitch and foot (e.g., zigzag foot for zigzag stitch).
  3. Position fabric under presser foot, lower foot, and start sewing.
  4. Guide fabric gently; let machine feed it.
  5. At end of seam, press reverse lever briefly to lock stitches, then cut threads.
  6. For corners: Stop with needle down, lift presser foot, pivot fabric, lower foot, continue.

Tip: Practice on scrap fabric first to test tension and stitch settings.

  1. Straight Stitch (Pattern 1): Basic sewing, seams. Length 2.0-2.5 recommended.
  2. Zigzag Stitch (Pattern 2-4): Edge finishing, mending, stretch fabrics. Adjust width as needed.
  3. Blind Hem Stitch (Pattern 5): For nearly invisible hems. Use with blind hem foot.
  4. Elastic Stitch (Pattern 6): For sewing elastic or decorative stretch seams.

WARNING! Always use the correct presser foot for the selected stitch to avoid damage or injury.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug machine before any maintenance.

  1. Cleaning: Remove needle plate screws, lift plate, and use small brush to remove lint from feed dogs and bobbin area.
  2. Oiling: Apply one drop of sewing machine oil to hook race and other moving parts as indicated in manual (do not over-oil).
  3. Needle: Replace bent or dull needles immediately. Use correct type for fabric.
  4. Cover: Use dust cover when not in use to prevent dust accumulation.

CAUTION! Never use compressed air to clean; it can force lint deeper. Wipe off excess oil before sewing.
