WARNING! Keep fingers away from the needle area during setup and operation. Ensure the machine is unplugged during initial assembly.

First-Time Operation

Power on the machine; familiarize yourself with basic controls.

  1. Wind the bobbin: Place thread on spool pin, guide thread through bobbin winder tension disc, and engage bobbin winder.
  2. Insert the bobbin: Open the bobbin cover, place bobbin in case with thread unwinding counterclockwise, and pull thread through the slot.
  3. Thread the upper thread: Use the built-in needle threader following the numbered threading path on the machine.
  4. Select a stitch: Turn the stitch selection dial to your desired pattern (e.g., straight stitch).
  5. Practice sewing on scrap fabric to adjust tension and stitch settings.

CAUTION! Always turn the handwheel toward you (counterclockwise) to avoid timing issues. Never force the handwheel.

Stitch Selection Guide

Use the following guide for common fabrics and projects.

  1. Straight Stitch (Pattern 1): General sewing, seams, topstitching. Use length 2.0-2.5mm.
  2. Zigzag Stitch (Pattern 2): Finishing edges, appliqué, stretch fabrics. Adjust width as needed.
  3. Blind Hem Stitch (Pattern 3): Nearly invisible hems on garments.
  4. Elastic Stitch (Pattern 4): Sewing elastic and stretch fabrics.
  5. Decorative Stitches (Patterns 5-21): For embellishment on various projects.
  6. 4-Step Buttonhole (Buttonhole setting): Follow marked steps on machine for consistent buttonholes.

Tip: Always test stitch settings on a scrap of your project fabric first.

Threading the Machine

Proper threading is essential for smooth operation.

  1. Raise the presser foot and needle to the highest position using the handwheel.
  2. Place the spool of thread on the spool pin.
  3. Follow the numbered threading path on the machine: guide thread through thread guides, tension discs, and take-up lever.
  4. Use the built-in needle threader: Push the lever down and hook the thread through the needle eye, then release the lever to pull the thread through.
  5. Pull about 4 inches of thread toward the back of the machine under the presser foot.

WARNING! Ensure the presser foot is raised when threading to allow thread to seat properly in the tension discs.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Unplug the machine before any maintenance. Regular cleaning prevents lint buildup.

  1. Remove the needle plate screws and lift off the needle plate.
  2. Use the small brush provided to remove lint and thread bits from the feed dogs and bobbin area.
  3. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or aerosols.
  4. Oil the machine as indicated in the manual (specific points marked). Use only sewing machine oil.
  5. Replace the needle regularly (every 8-10 hours of sewing) or if damaged.

CAUTION! Never immerse the machine in water. Keep oil away from electrical components.
