Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a stable, flat surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from the machine and accessories.
  2. Attach the power cord to the machine and plug into a standard 120V AC outlet.
  3. Install the foot pedal by plugging it into the designated port on the machine.
  4. Attach the accessory compartment to create a flat sewing surface, or remove it to use the free arm.
  5. Wind and insert the bobbin following the diagram in the manual.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from the needle area during setup and operation. Ensure the machine is unplugged during initial assembly.

First-Time Operation

Plug in the machine and turn on the power switch.

  1. Thread the machine: Follow the numbered threading path printed on the machine. Use the automatic needle threader.
  2. Insert the bobbin: Place the wound bobbin into the bobbin case with the thread running counterclockwise.
  3. Select a stitch: Turn the stitch selection dial to your desired stitch (e.g., straight stitch).
  4. Test sew: Place a scrap fabric under the presser foot, lower the foot, and gently press the foot pedal.
  5. Adjust tension: If stitches are uneven, adjust the thread tension dial slightly.

CAUTION! Always turn the handwheel toward you (counterclockwise) to avoid timing issues. Never force the handwheel.

Basic Sewing Techniques

Straight Stitch: Default for seams. Set dial to straight stitch icon. Adjust length as needed.

  1. Place fabric under presser foot, lower the foot.
  2. Hold both thread tails behind the presser foot.
  3. Press reverse lever for a few stitches to lock the seam, then release.
  4. Gently press foot pedal to sew forward.
  5. At the end, press reverse again for a few stitches, then cut threads.

Zigzag Stitch: Used for finishing edges, appliqué, and stretch fabrics. Select zigzag stitch and adjust width.

Buttonhole: Use the 4-step process with the buttonhole foot. Mark fabric, follow steps 1-4 on the dial.

Tip: Always test stitch settings on a fabric scrap before sewing your project.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug the machine before any maintenance.

  1. Cleaning: Use the small brush to remove lint from the bobbin area and feed dogs. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth.
  2. Oiling: This machine is pre-lubricated and does not require regular oiling by the user. Refer to the manual for specific instructions if needed.
  3. Needle Replacement: Turn handwheel to raise the needle. Loosen the needle clamp screw, remove the old needle, insert a new one with the flat side toward the back, and tighten the screw.
  4. Bobbin Case: Remove the bobbin case periodically to clean any accumulated lint.

CAUTION! Never use compressed air to clean the machine, as it can force lint deeper into the mechanism.
