Most Common Issues (All Models)

• Thread bunching / looping underneath: Re-thread upper thread with presser foot up; check bobbin insertion and winding.
• Skipped stitches: Replace needle (use correct size/type); re-thread; clean race and bobbin area of lint.
• Needle breaking: Insert needle fully and flat side back; avoid pulling fabric; use proper needle for fabric.
• Upper thread breaking: Check thread path; reduce upper tension; ensure spool cap matches spool size.
• Bobbin thread issues: Use Brother genuine bobbins (Class 15/SA156); clean bobbin case; adjust bobbin tension if needed.
• Machine jammed / not sewing: Remove needle plate and clean hook race; turn handwheel manually to free; remove tangled thread.

Computerized & Embroidery Models

• Error messages (E1–E6): Refer to manual; usually foot controller, buttonhole lever, or thread sensor issues.
• Touch screen unresponsive: Calibrate screen (hold settings + power); unplug 10 min; update firmware via USB.
• Embroidery unit not moving: Re-attach firmly; check for obstructions; restart machine.

Mechanical Models

• Tension problems: Test on scrap fabric; adjust upper tension dial gradually; clean tension discs.
• Noisy operation: Oil designated points (if specified); clean thoroughly.

Safety note: Always unplug before cleaning, changing needles, or removing covers. Keep fingers clear of needle and moving parts.
